OUR HISTORY
The Boston Showstoppers was founded in 2007 by Clinton Lassiter. Lassiter started with just 7 girls from the inner city of Boston and figured it could be an outlet for them to stay active and off the streets for the summer. Since that inaugural summer, each year the program has grown in numbers and notoriety and now in our 10th year we serve over 150 young student-athletes. Since our first graduating class in 2013 we have sent over 40 young women to college and most importantly have given hundreds of young women a platform to learn discipline, hard work, the importance of education, and the bond of sisterhood.
Currently we serve young women ages 7-18 and use basketball as a vehicle to drive home the importance of education. We compete in & attend various college showcases, take our student-athletes to tour college campuses, and provide opportunities for our current athletes to connect with our alumnae to hear about and learn from their experiences. Since 2013 when we had our first graduating class we have had 100% of our girls graduate high school and go off to college. We are striving to continue this streak.
